33, working in a govt job, considering 3-year LLB at NLSIU — is this a realistic risk?
I'm 33 and currently working in a government job earning around ₹40k/month. Through my work, I've had some exposure to the High Court, which developed my interest in law.
I'm also going through a divorce at the moment. I appeared for NLSAT 2026 but wasn't selected, and I'm planning to attempt NLSAT 2027.
If I get into NLSIU, I'll probably have to take an education loan, potentially around ₹15–20 lakh. After graduation, getting a good placement would be very important for me to repay the loan and establish myself in the legal profession.
At 33, is this a reasonable risk to take? Especially considering that I'll be leaving a stable government job, taking on a substantial loan, and starting a legal career from scratch at 36.
I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from NLSIU students/alumni or lawyers who have seen people make a similar career transition.
