From Erin, Caffeine Carl’s Wife

Erin Odom Wagoner
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
First, I want everyone to know that, considering everything, we’re doing okay. We all have our moments. I don’t think it’s fully hit me yet. I still catch myself wondering what Carl is doing without me. We spent very few days apart in nearly 30 years. If we were ever separated, we were always on the phone, checking in, telling each other what we were doing, or just making each other laugh. Learning this new normal is something I’m taking one moment at a time.
I can’t begin to thank everyone enough for the phone calls, text messages, visits, prayers, meals, flowers, hugs, and every act of kindness you’ve shown our family. The love you’ve surrounded us with has been overwhelming in the best possible way, and I know Carl would be humbled by every bit of it.
I also have to laugh because I know exactly what he’d be saying right now. He’d roll his eyes and tell me, “I ain’t even gonna look at Facebook. It’s embarrassing!” That thought has made me smile more than once.
For those who would like to celebrate Carl’s incredible life with us, his funeral Mass will be held this Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s. After the service, we’re going to take Carl on one last ride down Duval Street before ending at the Key West Theater for his Celebration of Life.
Just like Carl would have wanted, there will be food, drinks, music, laughter, stories, and so much love. I hope you’ll come help us celebrate the amazing man who touched so many lives.
Thank you for loving Carl. Thank you for loving me and our family. We truly feel your support, and it means more than words could ever say.
I love you all, and I hope to see you on Wednesday. ❤️

The Doc That Saved Me

10 years, 7 months, and 7 days ago I died.

Literally.

Dead.

At the house.

On our kitchen floor.

Helen called 911 and they revived me at the house and out on the street.
When I woke up at the Hospital, Dr. Jack Norris was there and told me how lucky I was to be alive.

He was instrumental in my recovery and therapy.

Key West is a better place for the likes of Dr Norris and the medical professionals that save lives daily.

Thanks, Doc. because of you, I’m still a pain in Helen’s ass.
