What should I do

What should I do

My computer has been overheating for a long time, so last night I did some research to figure out whether it was caused by a setting or something else. I came to the conclusion that the thermal paste and cooling system are probably no longer sufficient after about 1.5–2 years of use. (Yeah, I know it took me a bit too long to realize that 😅)
My dad is a computer engineer, so I trust him on this stuff, but he’s currently living in another state because of work, so we can’t meet up anytime soon for maintenance.
I researched some thermal paste and I’m planning to buy one, but I don’t really want to risk opening the laptop myself and accidentally damaging something.
So until I can meet up with him and properly clean/reapply everything, what else should I do?
So far I’ve:
Set the maximum CPU power state to 95%
Kept the fans running at full speed
But no fan mode seems to reduce the temperatures significantly.
