Missing conditions
I’m looking for a bit of advice/reassurance from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
I currently have a conditional offer for Glasgow Uni, but I’m honestly not fully confident I’m going to meet the full conditions. I’m doing a HNC in business, but the course isn’t really my strong suit and it’s not what I actually want to study long term — I only chose it cos I thought it would be the best route to get the grades needed for uni. What I actually want to study is history/politics (which is the course I applied for), and I know I’d be much more in my element with that. My problem is my offer conditions asked for a full hnc group award, and I’m really worried about economics. I’m honestly not sure I’m going to pass it, and if I fail it then I don’t think I’ll get the full award. (Completed my first attempt on the exam and failed by 11 points, doing a resit soon but still not 100% on all my theory.) On top of that, theyve asked for an A in graded unit, but realistically I think I’m looking at a B at best, I took the exam last week and I felt confident in everything I wrote, just don’t think I wrote enough to get every mark I’m hoping for. (Hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised.)
I’m also signed up & taking part in the summer school, and I’m really committed to glasgow and genuinely want to be there. So I’m wondering, if worst comes to worst and I get a B in the graded unit and/or fail economics, is there any chance at all of still being considered? Like would summer school, personal circumstances (not to guilt trip but mum was diagnosed w cancer this year which took such a toll on my attendance/focus), or showing commitment make any difference? Or is it basically a strict meet the conditions or it’s over situation?
If anyone has missed HNC conditions (esp by one grade) or knows how flexible admissions can be, I’d really appreciate any insight. Tysm :)
