ARDS
Risk factors :
Sepsis
Trauma
Pancreatitis
Pathophysiology:
PANCREATITIS OR SEPSIS release excess cytokines and chemokines -->Neutrophils recruitment and degranulation--> Capillary leakage+ alveolar epithelial damage--> fluid leakage --> protein rich fluid leak from Capillary to alveoli--> pul. Edema
Biopsy:
hyaline membrane formation in alveoli
Atelectasis.
Finding :
V/Q mismatch
Normal Capillary wedge pressure PCWP
Key:
Noncardiogenic and cardiogenic pul edema distinguished by PCWP.
Timeline is very important while you are preparing for usmle step1
You Must know how much have you done, how much is left, are you prepared have you jumped into NBMEs , all these questions should be answered and then plan for step 1 triad.
Dont go for booking triad too early prepare well take all the time.
Its better to be late then to fail.
