New to the sub but not to the hobby. Been hunting these beauties for the past few years and finally got my first frame complete. All of these points were found throughout Northern Arizona. I see some of the blades other sub members are finding these days still and I’m jealous because around here it takes you a full day just to find a broken one it seems.
Anyways, figured this would be a good introductory post.
So I recently bought some rolls of “unsearched” Indian Head Cents from a coin vendor on this auction site called Hibid.com. When they came in and I was going through them I noticed that one of them stuck out to me as a bit odd. Compared to all the rest of them, this one has a shiny bright golden color to it.
From my research I was beginning to think this was possibly plated with gold like they do to commemorate coins for some stupid reason but even when comparing to one of the 24kt gold plated Indian cents, it still looks completely different. Someone suggested checking the weight on it and when I threw it on my scale it comes out between 4.1-4.2 grams and when I looked online to see how much gold plated Indian head Pennie’s weigh, and they all seem to be around 3.1 grams.
Has anyone seen these before or know why this one looks more like a gold coin than any of the ones I’ve seen before?

You would think after many years of collecting coins and staring at them for hours I would have learned to grade a coin. Unfortunately that’s not the case for me and find myself usually 3+ grades higher/lower than what they actually are. There seems to be a lot of different aspects to look at when grading and I fall short of possessing the skills needed.
I appreciate anyone who would like to offer their opinion on what this set would likely grade at if I were to send it in. I thank you ahead of time for any free knowledge you’re able to provide.
