Question about using client info this way. Wrong or just unprofessional?
If an agent who is in the commercial side at an agency contacts a family member of the employer/owner of the agency by going through client data to find the contact info. Is that wrong?
Context: There is a employee who works in commercial side of insurance at the agency I worked at which is family owned that I used to work at(Not a great person team wise, rude, does everything to go against the grain). This employee contacted the son of the owner who used to work there and who only has personal insurance with the agency. This was through the use of looking up his client information and contact info. However this was outside of work and not known about, as they were trying to dig up info/dirt about the owners of the agency. It was only found out because this son stopped responding in order to notify the owners of this. Said employee then turned rude and all that towards this son.
The reason I am asking this is because I was asked if I was contacted by this person since I used to work there and have my insurance still there. Was this just a weird/unprofessional thing to do? Or was it actually against rules? Am in Oregon if that context matters
