How do I convince my parents for a JEE drop

I got 98 percentile in JEE Main and around 70 marks in JEE Advanced this year.

My parents want me to join a college now, but I genuinely feel I can perform much better with one focused drop year.

They think taking a drop is risky and a waste of time, while I feel I still have unfinished potential and can improve a lot in Advanced.

For people who took a drop — how did you convince your parents?

And realistically, is taking a drop after 98 percentile worth it?

JEE made me question everything

I’ve been interested in science since childhood, but academics have honestly been a complete rollercoaster. In 8th grade, I thought I was good at maths until reality hit me hard — I scored just 6 out of 80. Then 9th got even worse and I failed in three subjects. My confidence was basically destroyed at that point.Somehow in 10th, I started studying seriously and managed to score 94% in boards. After that, I joined a dummy school and started going to FIITJEE, thinking everything would finally work out. Instead, I just kept studying blindly without understanding what I was even doing.Still somehow managed 94 percentile in JEE Mains attempt 1, and then thanks to QFT and Eduniti, I pushed it to 98 percentile in the next attempt. But honestly, after all this, I’m just burnt out. Don’t even ask about Advanced — I couldn’t solve anything there. Now I’m stuck deciding whether to take a drop or just move on with whatever I get. please advice
