I cannot get a job. I have a degree from Oxbridge, and a Masters from another university. I have tried doing various jobs but nothing sticks- I’ve been underemployed for 5 years. What am I doing wrong?
I am very very good at anything that involves complex research, working with archival material and coming up with marketing ideas and/or strategy. I’ve done really well on those roles, and often just got them by walking up to someone and asking for work- but they have all been freelance or fix term contracts. For some reason I cannot get an actual 9-5 salaries job, and I’ve been applying for at least a job a week for the last 5 years. It’s getting stressful as my life is getting more expensive, with living costs etc, even though I try to cut back where I can.
I took an office based admin job, outside my usual experience, last year and I was fucking awful at it - I was fired after 8 months.
It feels like I can’t get job offers for things I’m actually good at and very experienced in, and am just catastrophically bad at anything I DO get offered.
