“The Arizona Cardinals aren't making a quarterback change after their Week 4 loss to the New York Giants, according to head coach Mike LaFleur.

"’No,’ LaFleur said post-game before the question could even be finished during his press conference.

“In Arizona's 36-24 loss to New York, Brissett completed 21 of 35 passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He finished with a passer rating of 55.2 — his lowest as a starting quarterback since 2022.”

“We charted all 33 routes Harrison ran against the Chargers defense. Out of those snaps:

- 11 times Harrison was considered to be open or had separation against a defender. The other 22 routes he was not.

- Out of those 22 routes, Harrison was bracketed/double covered on eight of those plays. Ten more plays Harrison was one-on-one in either the red zone or running deep downfield.

- Oftentimes, Brissett got the ball out so quick a progression to Harrison wasn't possible. Brissett's 2.56 seconds for time to throw was the second-fastest on Sunday behind Joe Burrow (2.54) and tied with Jordan Love, who was blitzed on an eye-opening 82% of plays.”

“The core thinking is the Cardinals' offense has talent everywhere, and somebody will be open. That somebody depends on the week, gameplan, defensive coverage and a plethora of other factors.

“As such, there will be volatility on a weekly basis for Cardinals pass catchers. Kendrick Bourne isn't likely to have eight receptions for 75 yards every week. Harrison's also not going to have one reception every week, either.

“That's the reality of LaFleur's system: The ball will be spread based off advantages and where holes are in coverage, at least for the most part.”

"If you don't block, if you don't get sticky on DB's in this offense, you're just not going to be out there. Point-blank period," LaFleur said during training camp.

"He's not going to play about the run blocking," Marvin Harrison Jr. said. "He's going to make sure everybody's putting a hat on a hat in the run game, and obviously he expects a lot of us in the passing game as well."

“In the post-game press conference, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur revealed Love suffered an ankle injury, though it isn't believed to be serious. It's not known exactly when it occurred.

“LaFleur also added Love could have gone back in if needed, and is confident he'll be able to practice this week. Arizona returns to work on Saturday and will have over a week between games before hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 22 for their third preseason matchup.”

If Beck starts six to eight games this coming year and flashes his potential, will Arizona want to bank on that small sample size before moving forward and potentially passing up a top 2027 quarterback?

“That also works for the other side of the coin, where if Beck either doesn't play or performs poorly, perhaps the Cardinals may be giving up on their investment too soon. We've seen numerous cases where players simply need game reps and time to adjust before they bloom.
This feels like an impossible assessment for the Cardinals to confidently make in such a short window, though it's a bridge they'll cross in just seven months' time.”
