Would you use the left or right lane for straight ahead, 3rd exit?

Would you use the left or right lane for straight ahead, 3rd exit?

This came up today and led to a disagreement with my instructor.

There are two lanes on approach to the first roundabout. I need to go straight ahead. According to the satnav, it's the 3rd exit. The stub to the left is a dead end but you still count stubs as exits, hence 3rd exit straight.

I think I should be left lane by default or depending on exit at second roundabout but she thinks it should be the right lane.

It doesn't help that the satnav doesn't give you directions for the second roundabout until you've entered the first one.

I thought left lane at first roundabout for second exit at second roundabout (again the stub counts as an exit even though it's an entrance) and right lane at first roundabout for right, 3rd exit at the second roundabout.

I was told off earlier for approaching this roundabout, indicating to the right and then indicating to the left after I passed the first exit.

I was told as the satnav said 'cross the roundabout and take the second exit' it meant that it was technically straight ahead.

I argued that the route arm is positioned to the right therefore I ought to signal right as I enter then signal left to leave.

Will Reddit vindicate me or have I made a tit of myself?

This example came up today. Turning right from a 30mph street.

From local knowledge, the road I'm entering is a 20mph road.

There are two signs for this at the junction I've marked with red speed limit signs. These signs can't be seen from the POV junction and there are no repeaters or painted markings on the road and no traffic calming measures to suggest it's 20.

If I didn't know this road, I'd have considered it to be a 30mph street. I'd likely fail for this.

How would you deal with this?

I find the TomTom to be a bit small and struggle to see what's coming up, especially in the sunlight. It makes planning and selecting the correct speed etc slightly more difficult.

Am I allowed to leave on my instructor's larger satnav during the test? It's easier to see the road network, upcoming junctions, roundabouts etc.

To be clear, my instructor's satnav won't be following a route and would be silent throughout. It would only show the road I'm on and what's ahead and around me.
