Looking for a duplex color ink printer with good longevity.

What would you like to accomplish?

I am an artist who primarily uses my home printer to print colored vinyl stickers. The sticker paper I use requires ink.

The reason I am looking to get a new printer now is because I would like to use my printer to print off book signatures, which I need duplex for.

My current printer is a nearly seventeen-year-old, high mileage inkjet HP Photosmart + B209. It's a remarkably durable printer and still works great, but without duplex, it has outlived its usefulness for me.

Are there any models you are currently looking at?

I have no clue what models to look for in 2026, which is why I'm asking here.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Budget: So long as it's going to be a longterm investment, I'm willing to go up to the ~$300 range. I'd feel more comfortable spending less.
  • Country: USA
  • Color or black and white: MUST have color.
  • Laser or ink printer: Ink
  • New or used: No preference
  • Multi-function: Not a priority
  • Duplex Printing: MUST have duplex.
  • Home or business: Home
  • Printing content: Documents and images (latter on vinyl sticker paper)
  • Printing frequency: About 2.5 pages of colored images a month, 14 B&W pages of documents a month max. I may print more frequently in the future.
  • Pages per minute : Not a priority
  • Page size: Standard
  • Device printing from: Windows desktop computer, that's it. I do not use my phone for printing.
  • Connection type: USB. (Cannot be primarily WiFi as I have a poor rural connection.)

Any other details:

I've been burned badly enough by recent device purchases and updates that I've become suspicious of the longevity of devices that are reliant on WiFi and/or advertised as "AI-powered" or "smart". (Bloatware update nightmares)

TLDR:

Predictable, simple, long-lived duplex color printer with inkjet that I don't need WiFi to use.
