I saw the headline while I was on my lunch break today and then got the letter in my mailbox that confirmed it when I got home. CVS and I'm sure many other providers sent out the same letter. They'll no longer be covering Stelara effective July 1st. I've taken it for many years after failing a lot of other medications and its worked so well for me, now it looks like I'm going to have to change again.
I'm terrified that the law allows for companies to just effectively decide what medications you'll take based on what they will cover. It all feels rigged and corrupt and wrong that they essentially have authority over your medically trained doctor.
I'm terrified of having to start the whole process over if a bio-similar doesn't take. Its frustrating and it feels insane that we are powerless to stop it.
I've sent a email to my doctor to see if they can figure out a way to help me navigate whats going to come next. How many of you are feeling the same?
