My partner got fired yesterday over asking for a raise where the ceo said she is coming off as "demanding" and terminated her suddenly. The termination letter says she was fired on grounds of misconduct. My partner has lost access to all her emails and none of these calls were ever in writing. "Misconduct" feels grossly messed up. My partner asked her boss if she can resign instead and was told yes.

I'm looking at it financially. She gets 3 weeks severance and most likely EI benefits (we live in Toronto, Ontario) . But she is looking at it from the perspective of future employers doing reference check and finding out she was fired. She also has a respect aspect that she is viewing this with.

She is also hopeless about any lawyer being able to do anything with a company that likely has much better law team and she doesn't have the energy to spend time on that.

What should we do here? Please help out!
