Issue:
I was bitten by a cat around 3 hours ago. The bite broke skin and caused bleeding.
I went to a doctor and they gave me some injections. The photo is attached above
Details:
- Bite location: Wrist
- Number of wounds: 1
- Cat: Stray
Concern:
From what I’ve read, sometimes rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) is also required for bites that break the skin. I was not given RIG (or unsure if I was), and I’m worried if I needed it.
Questions:
- Based on this type of bite, should I have received RIG along with the vaccine?
- Is it too late to take it now if it was missed?
- Anything else I should watch out for (infection, symptoms, etc.)?
