So I have Google home speakers and a home assistant in my house. I have a different announcement system that does not use my Google speakers. So they (Google) used to be the speakers for my home assistant, but I have since transitioned away from that.. and I'm still bitter about family bell and animal of the day... Regardless.. in this really weird thought that I had trying to be helpful to my brother... I realized that I don't think I actually use my googles for anything other than asking for the weather... So I don't know what they can or can't do these days... So I'm trying to replicate something that I do with my setup, home assistant, with his setup, Google.
So in home assistant I have door sensors that I have essentially programmed that when a door is left Open it announces that a door's been left open, if it continues to stay open it makes another announcement, and if it is still open it makes another announcement and then sends me a notification...
My brother has Google homes in his house, and is having an issue with people forgetting to shut a door which is preventing his fur baby from staying contained in an area that he is supposed to stay contained in. Does Google home have the same capability still, to announce if a door sensor has been left open to remind the airhead who continues to leave the door open, to find the cat and shut the damn door?
Bonus points if it's something that works with any of the other open source Smart home products just in case he ever decides to switch away from Google...
