Should I Pursue Electrical Engineering?
Hello guys! I am a STEM student and I am currently contemplating with actually taking EE. My heart tells me to do go with this path, given that I can confidently say I am strong with physics, math, and science in general, and I am interested with circuits, power transmission, and signals. My parents are supportive with me pursuing a career in EE, but if they were to be in my situation, they would have chosen accountancy. The main reason I am considering accountancy is "practicality." I want to have a secure future in which I have good job prospects and a good salary. Now I admit I do not really know the job market for EE, but there are plenty of businesses that need accountants. But one thing I know is the "low" salary for engineers in the Philippines. I have seen plenty of posts in reddit in general for ph engineers complaining about this. EE seems to be a really rigorous and abstract field and I think that giving 4 or 5 years of my life suffering for learning all this and only to be paid badly is not worth it. My father is also an EE and for all his years of his life, he still hasn't made 6 figures per month but he earns I think around 80k PHP/month (he is ofc registered but does not have a PEE license). I want to know your thoughts in this.
