I was recently laid off from my position as a commercial solar designer due to lack of work. I have over 7 years of experience with designing residential and commercial solar PV systems. I know the design process like the back of my hand.

I’ve been applying for jobs for going on 2 months and only landed 2 interviews. I’m considering starting a design only business with my wife (who is also a designer.) While I know solar and drafting, what I don’t know is how the heck you start and operate a business.

Is there any resources out there for starting specifically a design only construction company?

Thanks!
