Used coffee grounds in refrigerator hack

Used coffee grounds (filter and all ) in an open container stashed in the fridge and tossed out 1-3 days later is such an inexpensive and effective refrigerator deodorizer if you brew coffee at home.

I struggled with coming back from vacation with a dead and rotten fridge in the summer and cleaning it. After multiple bleach/rinse/soap/vinegar wash downs and baking soda boxes it seemed the newish cheap fridge was a lost cause and the smell was stuck in the plastic.

Reddit tip here suggested coffee grounds this was odor absorbing was the results were miraculous. They really do pull in fridge odors that you can smell if you sniff them 24 hrs later.

I have converted multiple households to incorporating this easy, low waste cleaning trick into their routines irl, it works so well.

Especially homes that like pungent cheese. A fridge will be clean but have a funk with a lot of cheese eating, but with coffee grounds in rotation it’s fresh overnight.

Had to share because I tried it out of desperation and now part of my routine because it keeps a full fridge with a mix of fresh and ripening food from making everything that comes out of it smelling a bit sour.

Give it a try!
I’ve haven’t wasted money on those overpriced baking soda fridge boxes in ages. Fresh used coffee grounds tossed and replaced before they get moldy back there is superior in absorbing and trapping fridge odor.
