4 Weeks Post ACL Surgery — Realistic to Return to Desk Job Without Crutches?

I’m currently 2 weeks post-op from ACL reconstruction with a hamstring graft (no meniscus repair).

My surgeon wants me on a walker for 4 weeks and then to stop using it directly instead of transitioning to a single crutch. My physio also said 90° flexion by week 4 is enough and that I can improve ROM more afterward.

I need to return to my desk job around 4 weeks post-op, so I’m wondering:

- Were you able to walk without crutches/walker by 4 weeks after ACL surgery?

- Could you sit comfortably for long periods at a desk by then?

- Any swelling/stiffness issues while working?

Would love to hear experiences from people with a similar recovery timeline.

Return to work timeline after ACL surgery?

When was your return-to-work timeline after ACL surgery? I just had ACL surgery with no meniscus involvement. Will I be able to return to work in a month?

Is it normal for swelling to be this bad the day after ACL surgery? My knee/leg is still super swollen even with ice and elevation. I'm barely able to see my knees.

Had a knee injury about 3 weeks ago from a twisting movement. MRI shows a near-complete ACL tear and a complex meniscus tear, along with mild swelling (effusion and bone edema).

Right now I don’t have much pain, I can bend my knee fine, and overall it feels fairly normal during daily activities.

For anyone who’s been through this or knows about it — is it okay to go ahead with ACL reconstruction at this stage, or should I wait longer for the inflammation to settle more before surgery?
