Failed to get into vet school, but I don't know what to do
Hi, I am an 18-year-old male. I failed to get into vet school this year. It was my first attempt at getting into vet school. However, after failing, I have lost my motivation, and I am no longer sure if I see myself becoming a vet.
I cannot just temporarily leave the vet pathway to take some time to think about what I want to do because of the university programme.
It’s not that I want to become a vet right now, or at least I don’t think I do. However, for some reason, I cannot make a decision about whether I should abandon this path and look for another degree or career.
I don’t wish to look for a degree related to veterinary science or animals. Instead, I am considering a career in healthcare, such as physiotherapy or optometry.
Yet, as I mentioned, I feel like I cannot pivot into a new direction because I have spent so much time building my identity around becoming a vet.
I was hoping to find someone who might be able to relate to what I am going through and give me some advice on how I can handle this situation?
