As a degreed engineer working as a maintenance tech how valuable is this experience for me who wants to venture into innovation and entrepreneurship?

Also is this field experience more beneficial for me overall than just working as a regular engineer in the office when it comes to innovation ideas. Or am I better off working as a engineer in the office? Thanks.

I am currently a degreed Mechanical Engineer working as a senior mechanic for a manufacturing company.

I did it to get my hands dirty and build practical knowledge/experience for both my career and for innovation and entrepreneurship. Am I on the right track?
