Amateur vs. Pro Vinyl Rip: Will I actually hear a difference?
Hi everybody!
I have a vinyl-exclusive album (no digital or streaming release, only YouTube or archive.org) and I'm looking for the best possible digital listening experience. Right now, I have a 320kbps MP3 rip done by another user using an AT-LP120x with a Micro Linear stylus.
I'm debating whether to send the record to a professional archiving lab that uses a broadcast-grade EMT-948 turntable, an EMT TSD-15 cartridge, a Lehmann Black Cube preamp, and an RME ADI-2 Pro converter to get a 24-bit/96kHz FLAC file. It would cost 130€.
For pure playback and listening enjoyment, do you think the jump in quality is worth the investment, or will the vinyl's original master bottleneck the result anyway?
Thanks in advance!
