My partner and I are new homeowners and inherited a 1890 Victorian home. I’ve finally had time to take care of some work outside and a few things have me worried.

first, the porch. One post looks like it is decaying. the others look and feel ok, but do I contact a structural engineer for this? I’m not sure how to go about fixing this.

also, I found our grounding pole next to our AC and it doesn’t appear to be connected to anything. I’m pointing at the end of a wire attached to it, but it stops there. do I call an electrician for that?
