2026-27 RTWM: Dominik Mysterio Part 1
Here, I want to start a new series called "RTWM" or Road to Wrestlemania. It's basically fantasy booking a person or group of my choice for the next calendar year(now until WM 43). Even though it will look at the upcoming year for each wrestler/group I choose, I chose this name as a tribute to the road to wrestlemania mode in the old WWE games. For this one, I'm starting with my current favorite, El Sucio de Los Sucios, Dirty Dom!
So, he doesn't have any matches for Backlash and I'm completely okay with that given this story direction so let's jump to his first important point for himself.
- AAA Noche De Los Grandes: AAA World Title: Finn Balor vs Dominik Mysterio
Build: Let's face it. This is the only justifiable reason this feud continues. Dom continues to complain that he lost to "the demon" not Finn, prompting Pearce to make this match official. Pearce also agrees to ban Judgment Day from ringside after they cost Finn a match vs JD last week. The remainder of the build involves Dom rejecting Liv's ideas to help in the clubhouse, saying "guys, it's just me and Finn, I got this"(bringing back the dumber/more innocent side of Dom's ego here).
Result: After a competitive and fun match(where Dom cheats but never calls in anyone to interfere), Finn wins the title! Finn then offers a handshake(like Punk did to him at EC), which Dom ponders but then rejects and leaves. Finn gets a world title reign and ends the Judgment Day story for good. Dom, however, isn't so lucky...
After his loss, Liv is infuriated with Dom, but she keeps a cool head(or cool enough for Dom not to notice; think Jan. 2025 after the Netflix premiere). Dom becomes the errand boy for Judgment Day, constantly suggesting ideas that get rejected, and he gets talked about behind his back. Dom starts to become the Finn of the group, where he's not actually taken seriously anymore. He also starts to go on a losing streak whenever he wrestles on Raw, and he misses most of the spring PLEs in a row, except when he's helping Liv retain her title.
- Raw: IC title #1 contender's: Je'Von Evans vs. Dominik Mysterio
Build: A couple of months later, Liv gets Dom a contender's match where he can go for his IC title again at Summerslam. The week before, he trashes Je'Von, not taking him seriously, and barely training for the match. He also asks Judgment Day to stay behind so he can win on his own.
Result: Dominik Mysterio does not in fact win on his own. Evans wins clean, and Dom misses Summerslam as a result. He has become Liv's second in command basically, and only shows up to help her out with her match. However, in the clubhouse, Roxy and Dom start talking as she tries to sway Dom away from the group(Roxy is the only one who has not been talking smack about Dom for context). They don't get romantic but Roxy is here to continue Finn's conscience on the group without Finn showing up for awhile(or ever again).
- Summerslam: Women's WHC: Liv Morgan vs AJ Lee
Build: After the spring shows(and a line of Liv retains on Raws/spring PLEs), AJ Lee interrupts a Liv promo the Raw after NOC. AJ challenges Roxy to a match at SS to prove herself, but Liv interrupts, feeling offended at the "backseating". Roxy shows restraint but is irritated at Liv through the build and Liv uses Roxy to wrestle her matches for her on Raws. Also, after a promo battle between AJ and Liv, AJ goes to slap Liv, who ducks and pushes Dom into the fire(despite Dom not having said anything about AJ). This is a direct opposite of how Dom+Rhea handled their rivals in promos. Going into SS, the big cliffhanger is; will Roxy or Dom betray Liv? Who will leave the judgment day?
Result: After the ref collapses, Roxanne Perez interferes to help AJ! She has turned face and made her allegiances known, and then Dom shows up as well! However, Dom, after contemplating, chooses to help Liv once again retain to Roxy's chagrin. Liv and Roxy begin to feud in the fall, and Dom saves his relationship for one more day...
- MITB: Men's MITB Ladder Match
Build: This one's simple. Dom and Liv are happy together again, and Dom wins a qualifier. Their gloating gets interrupted by Roxy on the mic or brawling, but otherwise for Dom, his path is the simpler one. He gloats toward the other competitors as usual.
Result: Dom wins the briefcase with the help of Liv Morgan, holding the ladder in place for him to win! However, because he did not win on his own, he begins to question things...
- Crown Jewel: Women's CJ Title: Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan
Build: Here we go again...Crown Jewel season...However, like they did with Cody and Seth last year, I plan to use this as another chapter in a saga between two rivals, so it actually is canon! Even though Rhea despises Dom, she actually tries to get through to him after seeing how he's been treated by Liv, and his attempts at winning on his own. Of course, Dom denies everything and just says Rhea wants her "latino heat" back but Liv continues to treat him worse as her jealousy creeps in. Rhea and Roxanne make amends as Rhea never personally disliked Roxy to begin with, after they have a title match on smackdown which Rhea retains clean after a long clinic between the two and they handshake as well until LivDom ruin the moment. Liv attacks Roxy but after Rhea dismantles Liv, Dom hesitates, and then leaves(early 2023 Jey Uso type of moment). Liv berates Dom as he just exits.
Result: Midway through the match, Dominik Mysterio shows up but this time he prevents Liv from using a chair(SS 2024 callback). He says, "I want you to win, but not like this!" and maybe he means it this time. The distraction/hesitation is enough for Rhea to pick up the win. Dom then enters the ring, offering a hug. This time, Rhea accepts and then Dom leaves giving Rhea her moment, bringing closure to their chapter(but they do not get back together). This proves to be fatal as the Raw after, Liv dumps Dom and the Judgment Day brutalize him and Roxy, kicking Dom out for good and injuring them both for awhile...
- Royal Rumble: Men's Rumble(SURPRISE RETURN)
Result: After JD McDonagh enters the match and almost eliminates Rey Mysterio, Dirty Dom makes his return to a babyface pop! He immediately goes for JD, eliminating him and then the father and son go face to face! Dom says, "welcome back to the big leagues, deadbeat!" before they go at it! After a fair contest between the two, Liv Morgan butts in and ruins the moment! Via Liv's distraction, JD returns to eliminate both Mysterios to a chorus of boos!
- Elimination Chamber: Dominik Mysterio w Rey Mysterio vs JD McDonagh w Liv Morgan
Build: To wrap up the Judgment Day side of things, here it is. Rey explains to Dom that he's seen his son start to grow up too, and he wants to help coach him back to the light side, or at least be around better influences. Dom refuses at first, but after one too many JD beatdowns, he accepts his father's help reluctantly. Liv at this point, has gone so crazy she's chastised Raquel and kicked her out too, leaving her and JD as a duo at this point.
Result: Thanks to Rey helping even the odds(and a little bit of cheating because he can't help it), Dom picks up the W! Then, Rey's true intentions get revealed...
- Wrestlemania 43: Rey's Farewell Match: Dominik Mysterio vs Rey Mysterio
Build: The Raw after chamber, Rey reveals that he wants to wrestle one last match against his son. He wants Dom to retire him, the right way. Dom agrees to do so, but explains his anger("now that we start to get along again, you want to leave? You really are a deadbeat!"). We get a unique facevface dynamic as Dom, the antihero, won't admit it but he's struggling to cope with his dad leaving. We also get a heartfelt promo of Dom explaining that he cheats to honor Eddie, and because he's scared he's not good enough otherwise(Eddie Guerrero '04 type promo). We even see Dom interact with Rhea again, and reconcile with Damien and Finn during the build, as they see a changed man in him. Even Michael Cole and Dom squash their beef. Think of Dom, now as the Dom that trashed the New Day for leaving Big E. He's still kind of a dirtbag, but he only targets heels now and stays loyal to his friends. Rey stays face, but in protective dad fashion, remains kind of a stubborn loyalist of his idea of winning, until the Dom emotional promo opens his eyes a little. They share a tearful heart to heart as their final segment before Mania.
Result: Dom wins and refuses to cheat. The ref is down and Dom brings a chair in the ring, until Rey pulls the Eddie spot on him, smiling ever so slyly. Dom, also with a smile on his face, gets rid of the chair before they resume fighting. After that, Dom wins clean as a whistle with no trace of cheating in sight. Rey retires. And the Mysterios hug it out to chants of "Thank You Rey" echoing in Riyadh.
- BONUS: Wrestlemania 43: WWE Title: Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk
Result: After Cody turns heel with the ref down, he low blows and bloodies Punk. He hits 2 bloody cross rhodes and wins, with the crowd booing him like crazy. That is until...DOMINIK MYSTERIO CASHES IN! In a unique role reversal, the dirtbag "saves the day" by heisting, cashing in on our bloodied fallen villain. Dom wins the world title to end Night 1 of Wrestlemania, and both Cody and Punk have big ambitions to accomplish in the next season. Also, now Codelander can go nuts as he got done dirty to a chorus of cheers(Dom getting cheered over him should push him to an unbelievable amount of heel rage).
