Outpatient NP here. Has anyone ever successfully convinced their leadership to raise wages or implement a way to incentivize support staff like an MA?

We are always down MAs which obviously has major impact on productivity / patient care / provider well being. They get paid shit so they’re not motivated, or if they are then they go to nursing school and never come back.

I need to find a way to calculate the cost of turnover / lack of continuity / lack of motivation. Honestly I feel like I could see 2-4 more patients / day with a consistent MA who knows my flow, gets that EKG during rooming without waiting to ask me, and helps even slightly with my prior auths / in basket.

I’ve given my old good MAs $500 Christmas bonuses on the side just to try and keep them - and also because they deserve it - but admin just treats them like they’re replaceable peons and I really can’t blame them when they leave.
