I may be going abroad for several months, and I’m considering renting out my car long-term instead of selling it.

It’s a 2011 Audi A8 L, long-wheelbase luxury sedan. It’s quiet, comfortable, spacious, and well-suited for someone who needs a proper car for commuting, research, errands, internships, clinical work, weekend trips, or regular travel around Princeton/NJ/NY/PA.

I’d strongly prefer renting it to a responsible Princeton grad student, PhD student, postdoc, researcher, faculty/staff member, or mature undergrad who genuinely needs transportation for a few months and will treat the car properly.

Basic idea:

  • Long-term rental preferred, ideally monthly
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must show proof of insurance or be willing to set up proper coverage
  • No reckless driving, racing, smoking, rideshare, delivery driving, or nonsense
  • Mileage limit agreed in advance
  • Security deposit required
  • Written agreement
  • Pickup/return location in NJ

This is an older flagship Audi, not a basic commuter car, so I’m only looking for someone responsible, mature, and financially stable enough to take care of it.

The exact structure and agreement details are being worked on, but I wanted to see whether there’s any serious interest before I move forward.

If interested, please message me with:

  1. Your situation, student/grad student/postdoc/staff/etc.
  2. How long you’d need the car
  3. Approximate monthly mileage
  4. Where you’d mostly be driving
  5. Whether you currently have auto insurance
