I've been learning Japanese for around 4-5 months now and I've gotten far enough to understand both alphabets and some Kanji as well as some sentences. The reason is because I would like to become a high-school exchange student there in my 11th grade year. I'm worried and stressing myself out because I've been consistently telling myself that Japanese people are getting more and more tired of foreigners and for a good reason. I just wouldn't want to go and be seen as "another Japan obsessed American". I don't know if it's just the media I consume that makes me have that idea but either way, it's been taking a toll on me. I would learn Vietnamese as i'm interested in their culture just as much but It would be pretty hard to completely restart and determine myself on another, completely different language.
