Hi all, I recently (back in February) did my first sprint triathlon, and then a couple of weeks ago I did a trail half marathon with a great deal of elevation. I have set my sights on a half ironman distance race (the Texas Oilman race) in November (about 6 months out). I have a strong running background (I have run several half marathon distances and a full marathon a couple of years ago), but I am pretty new to swimming and cycling. I basically went in cold on the cycling to the sprint triathlon that I did, and so I mainly want thoughts on my current training plan for cycling.

I plan to do two rides a week: one brick which is focused on developing consistent cadence ahead of the run, and then one ride a week focused on increasing my distance gradually (I currently plan to add about 4 miles a week, and my most recent long ride was 16 miles). On the brick ride, I am thinking of spending a lot of time on a stationary bike so that I can get a feel for what an ideal RPM feels like (I have heard that 90 RPM is what I should aim for), since I really have no intuition of what that feels like when I am out riding.

Please let me know what you all think about this setup for improving my cycling. I don't really have the time in a week to do more than two cycling sessions, so I am trying to make the most out of the two sessions that I have. Thanks for your help!
