So for some context Ive been a nurse for the past year and a half. I quit my first med surge job after a year because I realized it just wasn’t for me. I started in the operating room immediately after and i’ve been at this job for almost 8 months. Working in the OR is a whole different beast. I’ve come to the realization that this isn’t for me. The personalities of coworkers, dealing with the surgeon, the stress of the environment - it just isn’t for me. I’m highly stressed and anxious all shift and I truly don’t have the passion or love i thought i would have for the OR. im now debating quitting my job in the hopes to find something else that would make me feel satisfied and passionate about. i would love to try a clinic or office setting - the routine of the environment is something that i feel i would thrive in. now my question is, should i still push through and keep my OR job or should i venture out and quit to find a job that would make me feel more satisfied and happier. I appreciate any opinions on this situation- i’m truly feeling so conflicted about this. is it still too early into this new job to quit? would it look unprofessional to throw the towel 8 months into it?
