Siding with Songbird should have given you access to Blackwall

Just finished my second play through of the DLC and wanted to talk about something that’s bothered me about it. I sided with Songbird both times, not a fan of being a pawn for the FIA, like the idea of siding with someone going through a similar situation as our character better, even though they end up lying about helping us.

One of the best moments in the story is when you proxy with song to access the blackwall to get to the train. Definitely a power you want to take with you once you finish the story. But, you don’t get to keep it unless you side with Reed and pick it up in that branch of the quest.

To me, that just doesn’t feel right? I’m sure there’s a more true to the lore reasoning, but to me, exposure to the blackwall seems to be more like an illness that sticks with you the more you access it. The moment you link up to song to use blackwall, you should get that illness in a way. Both branching paths in the story should have given you access to the blackwall since the plot revolves around it in a way. Reeds quest could have given you a more controlled, pacified version, but songs quest should have been a more powerful but crippling version.

Since I never played Reeds quest, I could be missing a key piece to the why, but to me, it just makes more sense you get it with songbird.

Edit: I’m not trying to say V should have full access to the blackwall. I understand Songbird is light years better than V when it comes to netrunning, and it’s clear the whole reason we’re trying to help her is bc of her access to the blackwall. My point was to get the blackwall gateway hack like you do in Reeds line or something similar. You don’t get anything of the sort.
