Travel setup advice needed
Hi everyone,
Hitting the road on a 2 month long road trip next month, and looking for advice on a new Flair-based travel setup.
Current state:
- I have capable travel grinders: Kingrinder K6 and MiiCoffee PT2
- I have Wacaco Pixapresso (the battery operated one). It's okay, but leaves a lot to be desired, so looking to ditch that in favor of a more robust and effective solution.
- I have a great home setup already, so not looking to replace that.
- My travel isn't "roughing it"; I'll be staying with friends and family or in hotels, so access to kettles and other creature comforts isn't an issue.
Needs/Wants:
- Definitely want a Flair, but has to be travel friendly i.e. easy to break down and carry in a case.
- Prefer SS brewing, no plastic touching water. That's one reason I'm looking to ditch the Pixapresso.
- Want the best experience/workflow.
- Maximize reservoir and dosing capacity, which is another complaint I have about the Pixapresso: 14-16g dose size.
I've ruled out the 58 and the 49. Those are more permanent solutions and don't appear to travel well. I likewise am not loving the 2Go feedback I've seen. So I'm leaning towards buying the Classic with the current Memorial Day sale ($135), and upgrading it with either the Pro 2 Head ($126) or the Pro 3 head ($159). I am assuming I can throw this potential setup in the standard Flair carrying case ($30) and have a very capable and mobile espresso setup to take along on this trip.
Thoughts on all of this? Am I on the right track? Is it worth saving the $33 by getting the Pro 2 instead of Pro 3?
