As a right handed guy i’ve always just used right handed retrieve bait casters, but this weekend my buddy left me use his left handed reel, and now I’ve gone down a bit of a rabbit hole. Now that i’m noticing it I see that just about every major angler uses a left handed reel, keeping their rod in their right hand the whole time.

Thoughts on this? Is there really a benefit out side of convenience not switching hands? Anyone out there who’s made the switch? And which do you prefer?

Been trying to get a bit more “serious” with my angling if you will, i’ve used some of the apps to just find spots, but now i’m looking for the best one that’s got all the information in one spot. Willing to get the premium version if all the good information is there. I fish below a damn so water conditions are big for me. Recommendations?
