Threatened to be fired for being slow
So I’ve been working at this shop for 5 years now about to finish my apprenticeship just waiting on papers to sign off, for a good 4 and a bit years I’ve just done structural steel (solid wire mig) then I got put on aluminium (and occasionally stainless) as the tig welder was leaving. so it’s been 6 months give or take and I’m about to get signed off I pretty much only do aluminium now but I’m getting told I’m too slow and if I don’t pick up the pace after I qualify I’m gone. Keep in mind I was given 2 weeks to train aluminium before hand and only got 2 days out of those weeks to practice welding with the old aluminium fabricator. Everything else is self taught. Idk what to do ask to go back to steel keep working my ass off until I’m eventually fired which I’m already doing. Probably should mention I’ve been doing 12 hour days and working saturdays when our usual work week is a 40 hour week usually just me there on Saturdays and I know how to fix and set up all the cnc equipment to an extent as-well when nobody else does. Any advice here? I’m 19 if that matters aswell
