Been lurking here for a while. Finally built something I'm actually proud of.

Spent months building and testing it. It works. Packaged it properly with documentation and a setup guide so anyone can use it without technical knowledge.

Listed it on two platforms. Zero sales so far.

The problem: I'm 22, I'm a CS student in Cyprus, I have no Twitter following, no LinkedIn audience, no newsletter, nothing. Every marketing channel I try hits a wall — Reddit removes self-promotion posts, LinkedIn posts get no reach, Twitter/X is pointless without followers.

I genuinely don't know what the next move is.

Has anyone been in this position? How did you get your first sale with zero audience? What actually worked for you?

Not looking for generic advice — I'd really appreciate hearing from someone who's actually been through this specifically. What moved the needle for you early on?

Did this exercise last month because I felt constantly behind even though I was working long hours.

Wrote down every task for 5 days and tagged it: was it actual client work, or was it admin/marketing/sales/finance?

Results: only 51% of my time was actual billable work. The rest was emails, chasing invoices, trying to write something for social media, and scheduling back-and-forth.

The scheduling alone was costing me about 3 hours a week. Not because it's hard — just because it was constant. "When are you free?" → "I can do Thursday" → "Actually Friday?" → confirmation → no-show because nobody sent a reminder.

Things that actually fixed it:

  1. Calendly (free). Clients book directly. Automatic reminders go out. I haven't manually confirmed a booking in months.

  2. AI for emails. I was writing the same 6-7 emails over and over (new enquiry reply, quote follow-up, late payment reminder, complaint response...). Now I describe the situation in plain language, get a draft in 10 seconds, tweak one sentence, send it. Down from ~15 mins per email to about 90 seconds.

  3. Stopped writing social posts from scratch. I just tell the AI what came up that week and it drafts 3 posts. I pick 2, schedule them. Takes 12 minutes on Sunday instead of not doing it at all. None of this required any technical knowledge. Just took a Saturday morning to set up.

Has anyone else done this kind of audit?

Curious what the breakdown looked like for other people.
