I understand that he did so many terrible things to ruin her life at the beginning, but the others were so much worse than him. However she didn't seem to hate Nicasia for example as much as she hated Cardan. Valerian literally tried to kill her twice and she still hated Cardan more even after Locke said Cardan didn't have anything to do with Valerian's actions.
