Navier-Stokes for geophysical modeling
Pleasant day!
As part of our final requirements for fluid dynamics, we were asked to create a project involving anything that we've learned throughout the semester. My buddy and I thought of modeling a storm surge over an area using the 2D Navier-stokes equation in MATLAB. We feel very passionate about the project. Additionally, I myself have done a few process simulations involving heat transfer in the past.
We're just anxious if our idea is realistic and possible as the resource on Geophysical applications of Navier-stokes are surprisingly quite rare online leaving us feeling blind and unsure.
Our methodology are as follows
import 2D geometry of map location ----> Create the mesh -----> 2D Navier-Stokes -----> MATLAB to solve
Is this idea feasible and if so, are there any recommendations/advices that one can give to ensure the success of our project?
Cheers.
