Does AA prefer Credits or GPA?

Hi guys! I’m a current UM Dearborn student hoping to transfer to AA in the coming years. unfortunately my first year i ended with 24 credit hours and a 2.27 GPA due to having to shift focus from academics to work (60+ hours a week and having to be the household leader for the year). Just recently i’ve gotten everything in order though and i’m completely ready to tackle the coming year(s).

For those unfamiliar, Dearborn gives its students a unique opportunity to retake a class and replace their transcript grade completely with the new grade. This is great because i’m able to increase my gpa from a 2.27 to something much higher but i’m slightly worried because my credit hours will only register as 24 across both years if i did this (12CH a year). Now im at a crossroads, do i retake everything and tank my credits (but get left with a roughly 3.8 GPA) or do i continue and get 32 CH next year with a 4.0 and get a maximum of 3.2 GPA? So many options yet im not sure which one is most favorable in the eyes of admissions. Any help would be much appreciated. i’d like to note that im actually relatively decent in academics but I simply had the time to only attend classes and take the quizzes/tests so im confident a near 4.0 is in my territory. Thank you All for the help!

Grades i got in the classes I can retake

B-/3CH
B & Lab/4CH
D+/3CH
C & Lab/4CH
B/3CH

car rebuilding relevant for CS/SWE?

Hey guys! i’m going into my sophomore year as a CS student with no internship yet. i’ve heard projects are great to boost internship rates but the only ones i can think of from my personal life is rebuilding cars (salvage to rebuilt title) and selling them. I also have a project car i work on. as far as projects go this is the best I could come up with from my personal life. The only issue is that the feels more like something a mech e student would want and not CS. Should I add it anyways? Focus on a more tech related project? Would appreciate any advice
