Absolutely desperate: Can’t get rid of foot pain! Any advice?
Hey guys,
I am writing this in hopes that anyone might come up with an idea I haven’t tried or an idea about what’s wrong with my feet/legs.
It all started in 2023. I used to have healthy feet with a normal arch. I was a young, sporty person going to the gym several times a week, playing tennis, and so on. Unfortunately, I developed a sports addiction and completely ignored the cues of my body telling me to take a break. I got pain in my feet, in my shins, my calves, my knees and eventually my tighs (the pain gradually wandered up starting from my feet). I then saw that my foot arch had collapsed and I also needed to buy bigger sized shoes. Ever since, I couldn’t get rid of the issues.
Here is what I tried so far:
- went to a physiotherapist who diagnosed weaknesses in my legs (his opinion was, that some parts of my legs wouldn’t work right so that my feet had to work overtime to compensate, thus the stress, tension and pain). I religiously did the excersises he recommended multiple times a day. The weaknesses went away, the pain didn’t.
- stretching & strengthening exercises multiple times a day over a long period of time
- massaging with hands or black roll ball. (All areas of my feet)
- Completely stopping everything that burdens my feet (sports, taking walks, standing for a long time)
- Compression Socks (they help but don’t solve the issue!)
- Different types of shoes (softer ones that are comfy , harder ones that give more stability, barefoot shoes where I gradually increased the time during which I wear them + only wearing them on soft, natural ground)
- Custom made insoles
nothing of this really helped and I feel really depressed. I am 25 years old and have so much I want to do, yet With these feet it is impossible.
Another thing that is really noticeably:
The last 4 months I was in South East Asia and had no problems! I could walk a lot, stand a lot, even track through the jungle with socks for swimming. The only difference I could make out to my home country (Germany) is the temperature. I thought about it being nutrition or vitamin D, but my issues came back almost immediately after coming back to Germany, when the food of Asia was literally still in my belly! :P It also can not be stress, since I am not stressed and would’ve been even happier than when I was abroad until my foot issues reoccured.
I made an appointment to get my vains checked, but I have to wait until July. I could imagine it’s the vains since the blood vessels expand in hot weather, so that could explain why the issues went away in Asia.
So now, first of all, thank you for reading all of this.
Secondly, does anyone have any idea what else could be the solution? Did anyone experience something similar where you tried EVERYTHING and yet nothing worked?
