Anyone regret selling their big old house for new/newer construction
We have lived in our current 1896 home for 5 years. I love old homes & the character that comes with them. We were newly engaged when we purchased & have put so much money into our home. Even so, I feel like there is a long way to go still. We have no AC, heating oil, no garage & a hand dug musty basement. Our kitchen & bath needs redone. Very little storage. Every single project left is a big ticket item. We’re spending about 4k a year on heating oil. (2600 square foot home, quoted 25k on mini splits). The rest of the projects are minimum 15k.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the new builds, but I can’t help but see the upsides to certain things since having kids. Our house has good bones but the price tag that comes with certain things sometimes doesn’t feel worth it to me. I’m just feeling super torn on which way to turn. Any advice appreciated.
