Hi everyone,

I am a reporter for a group of print newspapers.

I am in line to take up the mantle of editor for these papers sometime next year.

The discussions haven’t gone much further than ‘You have the job’ yet. So, before I begin bargaining on behalf of my own self worth, I’m wondering if anyone in similar roles can help me create a frame of reference for compensation.

For what it’s worth, we produce three weekly print publications in addition to managing a website (obviously). I have a bachelor’s in journalism from a reputable program and will have roughly three years of experience under my belt once the transition takes place. I currently make $20/hour.
