Amano shrimp biker gang.

Amano shrimp biker gang.

I recently got a pair of apistogramma baenschi incas and put them in a tank with my 4 amano shrimp.

Now these amano are pretty fearless. They have grown up in a shrimp-only setup, and I assumed that they would just avoid the apistos.

I was wrong.

They have been terrorising the male apisto, shamelessly taking over his beloved cave, refusing to back down when he swims up to them angrily demanding to get his cave back, and even taking food before the male gets the chance to eat his worms (I make sure the apistos are well fed). They are using their numbers against him, knowing that he is too young to consider hunting them down.

Introducing my first apisto pair.

My betta passed away recently, leaving me with an empty tank and after a lot of researching and conversations with my LFS I've gone in a cichlid direction with a pair of baenschi/inca.

I've been referring to them as Tweedledum and Tweedledee whilst I workshop some names for them.

The male has been quick to claim the prized cave at the front of the tank, and the female keeps appearing at the back left area of the tank so I'll be keeping an eye out to work out what land she has claimed.

(The last picture is one I took 2 days before getting them - I added a very lovely purple waffle plant/hemigraphis alternata, a banana plant, some red root floaters and rearranged a little bit just to make the lower half of the tank feel dense enough that sight lines should hopefully not be a concern).

Replacing all of the staff. Sad state of affairs from The Stockbridge Tap.

The Stockbridge Tap was well known for being a nice spot for a hand pulled ale, relatively peaceful, and beloved for being very dog friendly.

They had 3 rules posted on the door as you went in:

- no stag/hen do parties

- no large groups

- no under 18s.

The pub was owned by the same people who still own the Bow Bar and Cloisters. However, things happen in life and it was decided that the Stockbridge Tap would be put up for sale.

The Raeburn, who had owned the Tap in the past (they owned it under the name the Raeburn Bar) purchased the Stockbridge Tap, promising that they would not change the character of the place. That things would remain much the same, besides some much needed renovation work - which was completed over the course of 3 weeks in April of this year.

Sadly, the Raeburn has not kept the character whatsoever. The 3 rules on the door are all things they appear to welcome now. And more importantly, they have replaced pretty much all of the staff.

Sadly they have also scrubbed all of the previous content of the pub from the social media accounts.

Pushing out all of the staff, who have worked there for years, in favour of their "hip new image" so to speak.

I find it all very disappointing to see.

Rant over.

Brought a dog over, the ultimate betrayal.

Normally O'Malley only meets dogs outside of the house, but today I brought over Willow (who lives with cats) as I am dogsitting her this week and he was not pleased.

After two hours of stalking her around the house, ready to swipe her if she so much as looked at him funny, he decided that she is no match for his mighty paws, and went for a nap.

He rules this house and he knows it.
