Mum new to eczema
Hi everyone, I was hoping to gain some insight from anyone with eczema - my 3 month old developed it a month ago and although I'm doing what I can in terms of doctors appointments and ointments etc, I've never had it myself so I'm just trying to get as much of an understanding of it as I can, in the hopes of helping my daughter more.
I'm sorry if any of my points seem silly or misguided, I'm new to this and any points in the right direction will always be appreciated!
We're currently waiting for the referral to a determatologist (UK) after the latest appointment where I showed the doctors it was now covering almost her entire body. We currently have 1% hydrocortisone (on a break atm), Epimax cream and have now upgraded to Epaderm ointment which seems promising.
The main thing I'm hoping to learn is at what point does the eczema become itchy? Or to a point of itching where it becomes very uncomfortable? My little one will try to scratch her neck and chest where it is worst, especially in the morning, but she usually doesn't seem upset or distressed, and throughout the day sometimes doesn’t act as though she has eczema at all! She's such a lovely happy baby :)
Through militant commitment to keeping on top of ointment applications, especially during hydrocortisone breaks, her eczema is currently red patches (some get very red), though I have managed to keep any of the skin from breaking or bleeding. Is it possible to know how badly she is suffering? Sleep is starting to become disrupted too so it must be uncomfortable, and I'm worried she'll notice the itching more as she ages?
Sorry for the word vomit, it's all so upsetting, and there's not a moment that goes by that I don't wish that I could have it instead of her, so that she doesn't have to suffer this anymore. I really feel for everyone with this.
Thank you for listening :)
