Would you use a tool that explains SQL queries in plain English?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a small tool called DataDox, and I wanted to get some honest feedback from people who actually work with SQL.

The idea is simple:

You upload or paste a SQL query, and it generates clear, structured documentation explaining what the query is doing — joins, transformations, logic, and even basic lineage.

The problem I’m trying to solve:

A lot of time goes into understanding and explaining SQL, especially when:

* queries are complex

* someone else wrote them

* or you need to explain logic to non-technical stakeholders

Instead of manually breaking things down, this tool tries to do it instantly.

Before I go deeper into building this, I want to validate:

* Is this actually a real problem for you?

* Would you use something like this in your workflow?

* Where do you think this would break or not be useful?

* Would this be valuable enough to pay for?

Not trying to sell anything here — just genuinely looking for feedback.

If you’ve faced this problem or have thoughts, I’d really appreciate your input.
