Update on first time donation.
It’s been almost 3 weeks since my first donation. I can markedly feel a difference in myself (or it just might be placebo). I feel way more energized and have more motivation to move around.
But the biggest update is that I got a notification saying that my blood has been dispatched to help someone. If you are in the US you might have read the news about a shooter targeting the Islamic Center in San Diego. I believe my donation went to help those victims. Because right after it happened I got a email saying that my donation is on its way to San Diego.
This actually made me happy for two reasons. One, I was happy that my donation would help the victims. And two, it reinforced my belief that at the end of the day we are all of us just humans that share the same lifeblood. And it’s the social constructs that divide people. I’m a practicing Hindu but at the end of the day religion doesn’t matter in times of emergency and I’m so glad that it doesn’t. Blood is blood and doesn’t look at religion for compatibility. I’m proud that my blood helped those in need.
Sorry for the altruism but I hope it helps someone to donate and just help those in need.
