[Mike Curtis] Joint statement from the Mavs & Stars:
The Dallas Mavericks & Dallas Stars have reached an agreement that resolves the outstanding matters between the two organizations. American Airlines Center will continue to serve as the home of both teams at least through the 2030–31 season.
[DLLS Mavs] Dirk Nowitzki couldn’t make Don Nelson’s memorial service so he sent a letter to be read by his former teammate Steve Nash.
“He brought me to Dallas and I owe it to him.”
[Sidery] Klay Thompson is expected to approach the Mavericks soon for a buyout on his $17.5 million expiring contract, if they’re unable to find a trade partner. The Heat, plus the Warriors for a final reunion, are viewed as Thompson’s likely preferred landing spots.
[Quinn] I think the Lakers went all in on a roster that’s destined to lose to the Thunder and/or Spurs. They just don’t have the capacity to get the wings they’ll need now. Luka’s best chance at a title, imo, is returning to Dallas in 2028 and rolling with Cooper Flagg. Pretty easily.
[Fischer] @TheSteinLine that Dallas was pursuing Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and Michigan head coach Dusty May. Word had been consistent that new Mavericks general manager Mike Schmitz was seeking to land one of college’s top coaches to oversee the next stages of Cooper Flagg’s career.
