Publishers in National Bookstore that uses AI (so I can avoid them)
Hewwo, fwiends!!! So plano ko pumuntang SM Lucena to watch TADC Finale with my little brother. While we are there, I plan to buy a simple book for him to read (think abriged versions of classics like Little Princess, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Little Women etc.) para ma-improve reading comprehension nya. I wanna a little bit of my experiences with books as a child with him. That's how I improved as a child.
Last time na pumunta ako there tho, I saw some incredibly cheap books that are weirdly long (like 1-2 inches thick) that is below 250. Thickness of a book (especially that of an abridged public domain book) is not indicative of it's price—both production costs and retail price—but it's still a bit weird so I was suspicious and checked the covers... it's AI.
I understand why AI is used in publishing, especially when it comes to public domain works that could be used in schools. However, I am against using AI in creative works and processes as well as how AI is most commonly used these recent times, I care not for price accessibility when AI in creation further devalues art by devaluing artists and other creatives ("bat ka pa mag-aaral ng [insert artistic career], kaya naman yan gawin ng AI") as well as the unnecessary defilement of the environment—which makes life harder for the common people through its consequences.
That said, I still wanna share the joys of reading with me bebe as well as help him improve on his reading skills. I just want to know the publishers that uses AI so I can avoid it (yes, I know Timeless Books/Classics). Me buying or not buying it is not impactful but I'm doing it on principle. I also want to know the publishers that don't use AI, I remember one publisher (one whose spine color is a different color from the front and back cover) from my childhood that has colorful illustrations but I don't remember the name (I remember that they have Black Beauty, Little Women, Little Princess, Uncle Tom's Cabin).
