42 and Wondering About Early Fire
Im a 42/m in Houston, TX. Been working for O&G in the IT sector, wondering if I can early retire by the time Im 43 - 45. Annual salary $160,000
- Assets I can use pre-65 (including stocks in a taxable account ) - $1.6mn
- Retirement assets (401k, HSA, Pension) - $1.8m
- Annual dividends + interest - $36,000
- Annual expenses - $55,000 to $60,000
I have a house that is worth $500k and have $60,000 mortgage left on it. I am divorced, no kids with no plans to marry again or have kids. The only thing I plan to do when Im retired is travel which is included in the expenses. My other vice is buying tech usually a phone ever year. My big challenge will be ACA healthcare in retirement.
I am trying to work as long as I can but we know how this market is. How are things looking?
