CPAP - I’m going insane.

I pushed for my partner to finally have a sleep assessment because his snoring was absolutely horrific and he was regularly stopping breathing during the night. We were really hoping CPAP would be the solution and that we’d both finally get some decent sleep.
He has now been set up with a Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle Auto CPAP. Unfortunately, he arranged the payment plan and purchased it before talking to me about it, so we’re committed to this particular machine.
The problem is the noise.
When he’s awake or just falling asleep, the machine sounds reasonably quiet. I can hear the normal breathing and airflow and it’s not an issue.
But once he actually falls asleep, the machine/mask becomes EXTREMELY loud. It’s a constant, loud blowing/whooshing sound coming from the vent on the front of his nasal mask. It’s honestly louder than his snoring was.
He’s contacted the clinic multiple times about it. They’ve adjusted the settings several times and keep telling him that the machine will make some noise, but the adjustments haven’t made any noticeable difference.
I’m struggling because I have a very active toddler, so I desperately need sleep myself. At the moment I’m not managing to get to sleep until about 3am, because of the constant blowing.
I completely understand that the CPAP is important for his health and I’m not suggesting he stop using it. I’m just wondering whether this level of noise is actually normal, or whether there could be something wrong with the mask/vent or whether another mask might be significantly quieter?
Has anyone else used a Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle Auto and experienced this? Did changing the mask make a difference? Any advice would be hugely appreciated because we’re both exhausted. 😩
