Looking for equipment advice (control + better feedback setup)
I’ve been playing casually for around 3 years, and for the last 6 months I’ve been practicing consistently (around 30 minutes, 5 days a week at work). I’m not in a club yet, but I’m planning to join one this year.
Current setup:
Stiga Future Cybershape 3-star premade racket
Current level:
I’m consistently one of the top 2 players at work, but I don’t have formal club or league experience yet.
Playstyle:
I’m an adaptive player. I switch between offense and defense depending on the situation. My strongest shot is a fast forehand attack, but my backhand is quite weak, so I mostly rely on pushes, blocks, and occasional chops on that side.
Main issue:
My biggest problem is consistency and ball feel. I struggle to properly feel contact on the racket, which makes timing and control inconsistent. The racket feels a bit muted and too fast in passive play like pushes and blocks, where I lose control more easily.
Goal:
I want a more controlled setup with better feedback and dwell time so I can improve fundamentals and transition into club level training.
Gear idea I am considering:
I am thinking about going for a Yasaka Sweden Extra blade since I’ve heard it gives better control and feedback compared to premade rackets.
For rubbers I am still not sure what to go for. I want something controlled that has good grip so I can actually learn proper spin and brushing technique. I want to develop my ability to generate spin rather than rely on speed, so something with predictable feel and not too much bounce would be ideal. I’m open to suggestions here since I’m not very confident in rubber choices yet.
Preferences:
Good ball feedback and feel
Good grip for learning spin
Allround setup, not overly offensive
Something I can develop with long term
Budget:
Around 120 dollars
Any recommendations would be really appreciated.
